Activating Server License

Server Applications

Server Applications written with LEADTOOLS require a LEADTOOLS Server Runtime License. The Server Runtime License must be activated within 7 days of the first use.

In order to activate a LEADTOOLS Server Runtime License, you must run the LEADTOOLS Server License Activator on the server that will host your server application. The shortcut to the LEADTOOLS Server License Activator can be found in this directory: "\LEADTOOLS21\Support\02 LEADTOOLS Server License Activator".

You can activate a license in one of two ways:

  1. Automated license activation – If your server can connect to the internet, use automated license activation.
    1. Run the LEADTOOLS Server License Activator on the server computer that will host your application.
    2. Select “Activate a License…”.
    3. Select the original .LIC file emailed to you from LEADTOOLS.
    4. The LEADTOOLS Server License Activator will attempt to connect to the LEADTOOLS License Activation Service and activate this .LIC.
    5. Save the generated server .LIC file (i.e., the activated license), and then use it in your server application.

  2. Manual license activation – If your server cannot connect to the internet, use manual license activation.
    1. Run the LEADTOOLS Server License Activator on the server computer that will host your application.
    2. Copy the Machine Id text to the clipboard or save it to a file.
    3. On a machine that does have the ability to connect to the internet, visit: https://www.leadtools.com/licenseportal/.
    4. When you connect to the license portal you will need to log in. Then you can enter the Machine Id, and upload the original .LIC file emailed to you from LEADTOOLS.
    5. Save the generated server .LIC file (i.e., the activated license), and then use it in your server application.

✎ NOTE

When you deploy a server application that uses LEADTOOLS, it will run for only 7 days with an un-activated Server Runtime License.

✎ NOTE

The generated server .LIC file (i.e., the activated license), can only be used on the server where it was generated. If you attempt to use it on another machine you will receive an error.

✎ NOTE

The generated server .LIC file (i.e., the activated license), cannot be used with the LEADTOOLS Server License Activator. Only the original .LIC file emailed to you from LEADTOOLS can be used with the LEADTOOLS Server License Activator.
