Charlotte, NC (January 29, 2014) – LEAD Technologies is pleased to announce the release of a major update to LEADTOOLS Version 18. Highlighting this release are many new features and enhancements to the entire Document, Medical, Multimedia and Imaging product lines.

One day shy of its one year anniversary, LEADTOOLS Version 18 is still booming and propelling LEAD Technologies into previously uncharted territories. Customers around the world have captured the vision of LEADTOOLS Anywhere™ and its cross-platform libraries for HTML5, Windows, WinRT, iOS, OS X, Android and Linux, helping LEAD smash sales records and exceed expectations for 2013. LEAD is building on that success and rewarding its customers by continuing to improve Version 18, all at no cost for registered V18 users and annual maintenance customers.

The entire product line has been improved in both performance and support, as LEAD keeps up with the rapidly evolving and growing world of digital imaging. LEAD has rebuilt and recertified its WinRT libraries for Windows 8.1, ensuring Windows Store apps built with LEADTOOLS can stay current and leave their competition behind. Customers enjoying our HTML5 and JavaScript libraries can now take advantage of Microsoft TypeScript to improve their cross-platform applications. Core Document Imaging technologies including OCR, Forms Recognition, and PDF engines are faster and more accurate than ever before.

Medical Imaging developers will also greatly benefit from this release. Simplified localization was a major focus as the entire medical toolkit has been given expanded and improved functionality for working with international character sets. The PACS Storage Server has been optimized and given more flexibility for large, custom databases. The HTML5 and .NET Medical Viewers gained additional annotations and improved local image capture options. Finally, LEAD implemented powerful new image processing functions such as CLAHE, Image Fusion and Stent Boost that are in high demand by physicians and radiologists, but are rarely seen in most commercial SDKs.

Significant additions and advancements have also been added throughout the Multimedia product line. Many processing filters have been upgraded to support the 4:2:0 YUV color space, automatic aspect ratio preservation was added throughout the toolkit, and the conversion speed for several formats were optimized. Finally, LEAD expanded and enhanced its support for RTSP, Media Foundation, and OpenGL rendering, further reinforcing the LEADTOOLS Multimedia toolkit's top-notch speed, ease-of-use and comprehensive collection of features.

"As a software developer, you simply cannot overlook LEADTOOLS Version 18," said Moe Daher, Chairman and CEO of LEAD Technologies. "By incorporating our world-class technology into your application, you will have everything you need to be competitive, relevant, and successful in today's digital imaging software markets. LEADTOOLS continues to prove year after year why it is the World Leader in Imaging SDKs."
