Using ID Recognition to Increase Security

Posted on 2016-07-18 14:11:46 by Greg

One of our favorite things to do at LEAD is be a part of making the world a better place to live through our technologies. As an SDK company, we enjoy a much broader reach than our local community since we get to be a part of many projects and ideas that our customers are coming up with. For example, LEADTOOLS DICOM and PACS technologies aren't serving just a couple local hospitals, but thousands of hospitals around the globe. That's literally hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of X-rays, CTs, MRIs, and the like displayed by LEADTOOLS.

If you have been following the news at all the past several months, it's been rather violent. In response, local governing bodies are starting to do more to increase security measures through printing and scanning ID cards for children and families that attend public events, or implementing stricter ID protocols at bars. Our sales and support teams have been getting a lot of questions about how LEADTOOLS can help these municipalities and socially aware developers with improving security.

Medical and Web Technology: Perfect Match with LEADTOOLS

Posted on 2016-04-21 09:17:02 by Gabriel Smith

At first glance, medical imaging technology and web may appear to be incompatible technologies because of non-standard medical-image bit depths and the huge amount of data associated with even just one DICOM dataset. However, as demonstrated with this last release, the engineers at LEAD Technologies continue to develop frameworks, technologies and algorithms that provide HTML5 developers tools to work with medical images over the wire, while still ensuring great UX for their users.

With input from numerous customer requests, structured display, templates and custom layouts have been added to the HTML5 Medical Viewer. With these features, the end-user can design custom display templates choosing from three ways to arrange series images: sequentially, DICOM instance number or custom alternative with JavaScript. Users can save the templates to a LEADTOOLS storage server as a DICOM structured display dataset; the LEADTOOLS Medical Viewer will use this to render series.

PDF Thumbnails and Bookmarks with HTML5

Posted on 2015-06-15 10:39:28 by Greg

Displaying multi-page documents in a zero-footprint web application can be a challenge because of the limitations associated with the <img> tag, which can only display a single image. A common solution is to implement a separate thumbnail viewer and attach JavaScript listener events to change the displayed image in your main "viewer." A more advanced solution may involve detecting the scroll position and modifying the DOM to create a continuously scrolling viewer. Those are both great for any file with multiple pages, but what if you want to take full advantage of more advanced file format features such as PDF bookmarks and hyperlinks?

Many applications don't bother supporting the PDF file format and assume you want to use a third party plug-in to display it. However, the LEADTOOLS HTML5 SDK includes support for not only rasterizing the PDF into an image, but also reading the text, hyperlinks and embedded thumbnails so that you can develop a fully-featured, zero-footprint PDF viewer application! Our engineers are very proud of this functionality and have created the HTML5 PDF Thumbnails and Bookmarks demo so you can see the amazing technology LEADTOOLS has to offer. Additionally, it gives you a huge head start on developing your application since the source code for this demo (and all of our other HTML5 demos) is included with the free, fully-functional LEADTOOLS Evaluation download
