Hi,

as LeadTools works with .zon files, I was wondering if they are compatible to products from other vendors (Omnipage, ImageGear, ...).
Can I use .zon files from LeadTools with OmniPage and vice versa?
Is there a standard for .zon files?

Thank You,
Roland

I'm not 100% sure, so I have asked our engineering department for clarity.  It could be that the zone files are something that is specific to our implementation of the OCR engine we use (Nuance) or it is something that Nuance does and we just expose that functionality.

Either way my guess is that it is not compatible and I do not believe it is a standard because the zones contain information on how to process the bitmap.  Not all OCR products are likely to process the bitmap with a different approach/algorithm.

The zone files are written by the third-party engine we use, which is "ScanSoft OmniPage Capture SDK 12.7".  Therefore if the Omnipage you are talking about is the Scansoft (Nuance) Omnipage I would imagine that they would be compatible with each other.  If you want to know if specific products are compatible, please give me the product and version and I will have the developer ask Nuance if it is possible.
