LEADTOOLS JPIP (JPEG 2000 Interactive Protocol) supports interactive streaming of large images and associated image data using the minimum possible bandwidth.
LEADTOOLS JPIP client/server SDK architecture is designed for storing very large, compressed JPEG 2000 images at the server, while transmitting image resolution, quality and region of interest (ROI) as specified by a client. Client applications may interact with stored images without transmitting the entire image, or decoding the entire image code-stream. LEADTOOLS JPIP server and client components include a number of options to control image streaming and decoding.
LEADTOOLS JPIP SDK technology is comprised of high level components that developers can easily plug into enterprise client/server applications, to immediately start streaming high-resolution images over low bandwidth connections.

Overview of LEADTOOLS JPIP Client and Server SDK Technology
- Optimizes network efficiency through progressive image transmission, without sending redundant data
- Fast image viewing through progressive decoding of image resolutions, tiles and components
- Comprehensive client and server demos with ability to browse files on the server side
- Suitable for browsing lossless, high-resolution medical and geospatial images
- Supports JPEG 2000 code-streams and multiple file formats such as J2K, JP2 and JPX
- Supports streaming over HTTP V1.1 transport protocol
JPIP Server Component
- Fine control over the allocated server bandwidth, total server bandwidth, client connections bandwidth and chunk size
- Control server resource usage through setting maximum number of client connections, client lifetime and timeouts
- Scalable performance enhancement through splitting the streaming process among multiple servers running on different machines
- Interactive client requests and server response handling
- Configure aliases for images folders to support hosting in web servers as virtual directories
- Support streaming of JPX metadata boxes with several partitioning options
- Write and filter server event logs to a disk file or any custom data storage
JPIP Client Component
- Progressively decode higher resolutions upon user request
- Interactive viewer control to request, decode and display region of interest
- Decode user-requested regions of interest, component and quality
- Local caching of image information for faster future viewing
- Control amount of data delivered for each request
About JPIP
LEADTOOLS JPIP SDK technology is especially well-suited for viewing and manipulating large medical, geospatial, and very-high-resolution camera images stored on remote servers. LEADTOOLS JPIP is an implementation of the JPEG 2000, part 9 standard (ISO/IEC 15444-9), and includes both meta-data and code-stream elements.
