MS Windows Thumbnail Cache Format (TDB)

MS Windows Thumbnail Cache format is a raster file format created by Microsoft. It is used to store thumbnail images for Microsoft Windows Explorer's thumbnail view.

Using thumbnail images speeds up the display of images because the smaller displays do not need to be recalculated every time the user views the folder.

LEADTOOLS supports the thumbnail format used for Vista in addition to the earlier versions of windows.

This file format does not support progressive loads and saves, multi-page files, stamps, or Lossless JPEG compression. It does support RGB Sub-formats.

The default extension used by this format is: db.

This file format is supported by the DM Thumbs 2.0.

LEADTOOLS supports version Thumbs.db (created for Windows XP) as well as version Thumbcache_xxx.db (created for Windows Vista).
