There are many factors that determine whether to split a series into multiple groups or not.

The series is split into groups if one or more of the following scenarios occurred:

1) More than one frame has the same image position.  This can be checked by looking at the Image Position tag.  If two frames contain the same image position one is split into a separate group.

2) If the frames have a different Echo Number, the toolkit will place the frames with the same echo number in a separate group.

3) If the frames have a different Sequence Number, the toolkit will place the frames with the same sequence number in a spearate group.

4) If the frames have a different Frame of reference UID, the toolkit will place the frames with the same Frame of reference UID in a separate group.

5) If the frames have a different orientation value, the toolkit will place the frames with the same orientation value in a separate group.
