Hi, Basel

On the LeadTool Forum Two month ago, I asked using my application(made by LT raster Image pro 14) on 64bit OS.

You said to me
"You can build your application in 32-bit mode and run it in 32 or 64-bit environments. Or you can build it in 64-bit mode and run in 64-bit environment. "

And I ask about my version (14 pro), you said I need higher version.
"You are correct, LEADTOOLS V14 didn't have 64bit DLLs. However, later versions of LEADTOOLS have 32 and 64bit DLLs.

I recommend you contact sales@leadtools.com for more information about upgrading to a later version of LEADTOOLS. "

I asked about it and I got below reply,
"Hello Joo,
>
> 32 bit applications can run on 64 bit platforms. Therefore if you develop an application with Version 14.5, it should still work on a 64 bit OS like XP or Vista 64.
>
> If you want to make a 64-bit version of your application that only runs on 64-bit Windows OS. You will need to upgrade to a later version of LEADTOOLS.
> LEADTOOLS V16.5 and V17 have LEADTOOLS API functionalities in 32bit and 64bit.
>
> Upgrading your application shouldn't be hard. If you face any problems related to LEADTOOLS during upgrading, please send us your problem and we will gladly help you.
>
> About sales information, please contact sales@leadtools.com."

And I got also below
"Hello Joo,

Yes, it should also work on Windows 7 64-bit.

To upgrade to V14.5 DLLs, please follow the instructions in the attached text
file.

If you want to build your project as 32-bit application, you can use VS6.

LEADTOOLS V17 has been released! Please visit us at
http://www.leadtools.com/corporate/new-in-v17.htm for a complete list of new
features."

I have some questions about it.

1. You said "32 bit applications can run on
64 bit platforms. Therefore if you develop an
application with Version 14.5, it should still
work on a 64 bit OS like XP or Vista 64."
It means Windows 7 is not sure to work fine?

2. I installed LeadTool Raster Image pro14.0 on
the 64bit OS. Sample applications work fine.
It means without update to v 14.5, can I use
14 for 64bit, right?

3. In the text(detail about update v14.5), there
are ASCII and UNICODE word. I know the
meaning of words, however I don't know the
real meaning on this part.(What's that mean?)

4. My device driver is for 64bit OS. Is
Leadtool don't care about the device driver?
(I'm not sure just I guess If I use 64bit
device driver, I need only 64bit version.? I
don't know just I guess.)

If you have anything about my questions,
plz let me know.

Thanks,

1. LEADTOOLS V14.5 should work with Windows Vista and Windows 7 64-bit.
2. Yes, V14 is 32-bit and should work under 64-bit OS.
3. Use the ASCII DLLs if you are not building a Unicode application. Or use the UNICODE folder if you are building a Unicode application.
To apply the patches, backup your original files, and then replace them with ASCII/UNICODE folders.
4. I'm not sure what you mean by device driver. Can you please explain more about it? If your Windows OS is 64-bit, LEADTOOLS V14 will be installed in "Program Files (x86)".
