I am working on a scanning application in VB .NET using the LEADTOOLS Raster Imaging Pro .NET toolkit v15. I need to find the TWAIN capability values for the following panasonic scanner features:
-Automatic Crop
-Length Control
-Maximum paper size

Does anyone know where I could find these specific TWAIN capabilities (if they are supported through TWAIN)?

I also need some help creating and selecting custom sizes using LEADTOOLS' TWAIN toolkit. Example: I want to scan a paper size of 8.5 in by 23.5 in without requiring the user to make changes manually in the manufacturer's TWAIN dialog.

Hello,

Are these standard or custom capabilities?
There is a standard capability called ICAP_AUTOMATICBORDERDETECTION. Is this related to Automatic Crop?
Also, is the paper size related to ICAP_SUPPORTEDSIZES?

It seems you already have the Twain specification document, but in case you don't have it, you can get it from http://www.twain.org/ by using the following URL:
http://www.twain.org/docs/TWAIN2d.pdf

I have found out that these capabilities are standard capabilities: Panasonic's Automatic Crop feature is the same as TwainCapabilityType.ImageAutomaticBorderDetection. I think the length control capability is the same as TwainCapabilityType.ImageUndefinedImageSize.

I have also found out that I can retrieve the maximum paper size using TwainCapabilityType.ImagePhysicalWidth and TwainCapabilityType.ImagePhysicalHeight, and have looked at using the supported sizes capability but that just returns the selected size from a list of fixed sizes.

How can I set the paper size that I want to scan to a custom height and width?

Hello,

If your scanner supports it, you can use ICAP_FRAMES (TwainCapabilityType.ImageFrames).

Hello,

Is ICAP_FRAME the only way to set the paper size to a custom height and width? I find the ICAP_FRAMES is not supported. Is there any other alternative that I can look for?

Thanks,

Hello,

Yes, there is another way:
- Call the GetProperties method.
- Set the following properties:
LeftMargin property, RightMargin property, TopMargin property, BottomMargin property
- Call the SetProperties method.

For more information, please read the LEADTOOLS Twain documentation.

Thanks,
