Reading barcodes from PDF is a little different than reading them from a JPG or TIFF (or any other raster image format). PDF files are vector files, so when they are loaded as images they need to be rasterized. By default LEADTOOLS rasterizes the PDFs at 72DPI. 72DPI is too low for reading barcodes. The recommended resolution for reading barcodes is 300DPI. If the document is very large then 150DPI will suffice.
If you are using our Barcode demos, then can follow these steps to load a PDF at a spefiic DPI.
1. Click File > Open.
2. Select your PDF but do not click the Open button yet.
3. Check the box at the bottom left corner that says "Show Options dialog on Open".
4. Now press the Open button.
5. In the Options dialog, select the PDF tab.
6. Now type in the new values for the DPI. The horizontal and vertical values should be the same.
7. Click OK.
If you are doing it through code, consult the help files for FILEPDFOPTIONS (C/C++) or
CodecsPdfLoadOptions (.NET). Use rasterCodecs.Options.Pdf.Save to set the properties in .NET.
