The LEADTOOLS Document Imaging toolkit includes all of the display functionality in the Raster Imaging products. In addition, it adds extra features to meet the specific demands of the document imaging market. This includes powerful annotation capabilities and specialized image processing filters, including despeckle, deskew, favor black, and scale to gray enhance and "clean up" 1 bit images as well as ultra fast rotation. To greatly increase the quality and readability of black and white images on the screen, the toolkit includes specialized display options called bitonal scaling.
Image acquisition capabilities are also expanded over the Raster Imaging products with the addition of support for the v4.1 of the Pixel Translation's ISIS toolkit implementation. You can use images acquired as document (halftone), grayscale or color for use in check & form processing applications, stock photo collections, WebPages and more.
JBIG is an acronym for 'Joint Bi-level Image experts Group', which has developed a standard for the lossless compression of a bi-level image. JBIG compression algorithms are included in both Document Imaging products.
LEADTOOLS Document Imaging products can employ specialized functions called Doc-Clean to remove noise, borders, lines and hole punches, smooth text and invert white on black text, and other functions to straighten skewed images (deskew), fatten thinning lines and text (dilatation) and erode text that has gotten too thick (erosion).
