JPEG2000 provides high compression with image quality superior to all existing standard encoding techniques. This high compression and quality performance is due to the adaptation of wavelet transforms.

What is MJ2K?

MJPEG2000 or MJ2K is a video adaptation of the JPEG2000 standard for still photos. It treats a video stream as a series of still photos, compressing each individually, with no interframe compression. Because it uses no interframe compression, it is ideal for editing. The JPEG2000 standard is the official successor to JPEG and will eventually replace the older JPEG standard for high-quality image compression.

The LEAD MJPEG2000 video codec saves standard JPEG2000 streams. This codec is perfect when high compression and interoperability are necessary. This video codec registers into the Windows® collection of multimedia drivers and integrates with any application using DirectShow. Existing video software, such as Windows® Media Player® and Ulead Media Studio®, can utilize this codec to play, create and edit industry standard motion JPEG2000.

Key features of the LEAD MJPEG2000 Video Codec:

image\sqrblit.jpg J2K offers higher compression efficiency than JPEG with less visual loss especially at extreme compression ratios.

image\sqrblit.jpg Is built to the JPEG2000 standard of compression for maximum interoperability.

image\sqrblit.jpg A single code stream that offers both lossy and superior lossless compression.

image\sqrblit.jpg Better transmission in noisy environments. Designed to avoid catastrophic decoding failure due to bit errors from transmission.

image\sqrblit.jpg Supports 16-bit grayscale video.
