This Visual Studio 2017 C# project illustrates the LEADTOOLS Video Callback and LEADTOOLS Still Image Writer filters. The purpose of this demo is to show two different methods for extracting frames from a video file and compressed individually as still bitmaps.

Using the still image writer, all frames in the file will be extracted. With the video callback filter, the custom user implementation can extract every frame or only specific frames if desired. Both filters have the ability to change the output file type.If other processing is necessary for each frame, the video callback is likely to be a better solution than the still image writer. One downside I found of using the video callback is that if the decoder begins to fall behind, it may drop frames in order to keep up with demand. This could be problematic depending on how many frames are dropped. If extracting is the only goal, the still image writer is an easier solution to implement.

This project is implemented using the LEADTOOLS Multimedia 19 SDK and the LEADTOOLS Imaging Pro SDK.

To run this project, please extract the attached project to the following directory:
C:\LEADTOOLS 19\Examples\posts\t12316

Note: The license file, developer key, and unlock codes are referenced in the main Form ctor. Update the paths to the license and developer key files before running this project. If you want to remove the license dialog and watermarks for the multimedia SDK, please update the unlock key as well.
