LotSmarter is an application that enables auctioneers and appraisers to collect detailed asset descriptions and associate this data with pictures. The data and images are exported to multiple systems that may have different image naming conventions and data import fields or requirements.

The Process:
To get an auction ready, auctioneers must inventory assets, value or price the asset and market it for sale. The more accurate the pictures and the descriptions, more confidence the on-line buyer has to bid. Better information leads to higher bids. For efficiency in lotting a lotter (user) arrives at a site with printed barcode labels where each barcode represents an asset for sale. The lotter applies the pre-printed barcode label to the first asset and takes a picture of the barcode. Then many photos can be taken of the asset to visually detail all attributes of asset. The lotter goes to the next asset, applies a label and takes picture of the barcode, and so on. This process transitions the lotter from manual processes and efforts to focusing on quality images and descriptions. Ultimately, this process can dramatically improve data quality, provides online bidders confidence to bid more often and higher leading to more profits auctioneers and their clients.
What problems were you facing?
We needed:
- Basic image manipulation features like rotate and crop that could be implemented quickly as part of an intuitive workflow.
- A product that provided the full set of image manipulation features to add advanced feature/functionality for our customers.

How was LEADTOOLS helpful?
‘LotSmarter’ utilizes LEADTOOLS image manipulation and barcode functionality to speed the lotting process for the user. There is no other lotting product available that enables data collectors to see all details and images on a single screen and provide functionality to enhance or manipulate images in real-time. LotSmarter allows the auction or asset services company to export the same data sets to multiple disparate computer systems in the format required by each respective system.
By utilizing LEADTOOLS, ‘LotSmarter’ enables a user to apply barcode labels to assets, take pictures of the assets, then reads the barcode and associates the respective images with a new or corresponding lot number. This simple procedure allows the user or back office to associate each asset photo with the correct lot by referencing the barcode photos. This optional feature called “bar-code import” supercharges this lotting process so the user can direct ‘LotSmarter’ to your photo directory and will automatically:
- Read each barcode photo and create a new lot with the lot number from the barcode.
- Associate each asset photo with the correct lot and import that photo into the correct lot.
