Standard for Frame Grabbers

The Imaging Source and LEAD Technologies Announce the Co-Development and Release of an ActiveX SDK, and Designate a New Industry Standard for Frame-grabber Integration

Charlotte, NC (January 12, 2000) -The Imaging Source, experts in imaging hardware, and LEAD Technologies, experts in imaging software, have co-developed and are announcing the immediate availability of a new ActiveX SDK called FPICS. FPICS, which is an acronym for Frame-grabber Programming Interface Control Standard, allows developers and OEMs to quickly build advanced capture applications using the industry's first programming standard for frame-grabbers.

• Support for multiple boards and/or concurrent multiple cameras with different video sources (CCIR, PAL, NTSC, SECAM, RS170).
• Visual Basic source code examples and demo programs
• Enable image processing parameters such brightness, contrast and gamma correction, and on the fly scaling.
• Control over hardware functions and access to advanced features, such as: - Internal and external triggers Digital input/output
• Full Support for DirectDraw, including:
  - Extra high speed display with primary surface mode.
  - Real-time display of text and drawing with overlay modes.
  - Divert live display to any desired window.
• Automatic detection or manual selection of color and video modes.
• On-board EEPROMData (read/write).
• Flash/strobe field, line and polarity.
• Display captured images as interlaced, non-interlaced or single field, with the ability to have two externally synchronized cameras displayed simultaneously.
• No runtime royalties
• Fully integrate into LEADTOOLS (provides complete access. Functional LEADTOOLS evaluation version is included).
